2017 “GLM 40” Highlight in Health: Mindfulness

The 2017 “GLM 40 Edition” highlights Mindfulness in Health. There is a general huge misconception around mindfulness. Many people think that mindfulness is a purely spiritual practice. Many think that it’s a private thing that others do at home. And most people think that mindfulness is about slowing down. That’s wrong. Mindfulness in short terms is really about speeding up our mental processes whereby you can be more effective with whatever you’re doing. It focuses on the mental and physical space to be intentional that allows us really to be on task with what we’re doing. Mindfulness is a practice where an individual learns to notice their thoughts, let go of the thoughts and return to the object of choice which is in short learning to manage our attention. In this day and age of various distractions, Mindfulness helps foster calm management of the external noise while minimizing the “hustle and Bustle” within the human brain. This technique has become increasingly important and involved in the treating individuals affected by mild anxiety all the way to post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). We are proud to recognize Mindfulness in the area of Health for its important support to progress in the treatment and relief of individuals affected by anxiety disorders, attention deficit, and PTSD in the year of 2017!
