Run Toward Your Dreams

Olympic Gold Medalist and Successful Entrepreneur – Andrea Bolder

It was the opportunity I had waited for my entire life. The race that would make all the hard work pay off. The training, the sacrifices over the years, my hopes and dreams, it all came down to this one race. To make the 2000 Olympic team, I would have to beat out to other very good sprinters. I had come to the Olympic trials hoping to earn a spot for the 400 meters, but after not qualifying, I was given the opportunity to earn a spot on the 4 x 400 meter relay team. This run-off would determine which one of us would make the team. When the gun sounded, I gave it everything I had and didn’t let up until I crossed the finish line. When I looked to my left and right, my competition was slightly behind me. I had earned my spot; I had accomplished my long time goal of becoming an Olympian. The feeling was and still until this day indescribable.

My opportunity came that afternoon to accomplish a major goal I had set as a child back inCalifornia, but the preparation to accomplish my goal started a long time before a got in the blocks to run the race of my life that day. At a young age my parents involved myself and my two younger siblings into sports. I fell in love with track and field. The passion and obsession I had for running would dominate my early years.

When it came time for high school, I selected one of the top academic and sports schools in the nation,PolytechnicHigh School, inLong Beach,California. The seeds of greatness continued to be planted into me by parents and coaches. My hunger to be the best and work with others that had the same passion and desires were rewarded by our track team winning several state championships.

My hard work, success on the track and dedication to be my best, earned me a scholarship to UCLA. This provided me another great opportunity to work with some legends in the field of track. I was coached by Jeanette Bolden and world-renowned Bob Kersee. They continued to instill in me that there are systems and principles to success and that if you follow them you will achieve the results you desire.

After my track and field career ended, I was hit with some tough realities; soon the money I earned from track would run out. I really didn’t have a clue of what my next steps would be. I was armed with a gold medal I had won at the Olympics, and a degree in biochemistry I had earned while at UCLA.

So I did what most people do, I followed the safe route. I found I job in my degree field and set off to live a life that was not fulfilling me. On the outside, everything looked great; I had a great job, a great husband, and everyone telling me I was so blessed. But on the inside, I knew I was in the wrong place, doing the wrong thing. Deep down inside, I was an entrepreneur, I loved the team concept. I loved working with people and inspiring them to be better.

Every morning I felt a tug-a war on the inside of me. I was certainly glad to have a wonderful family, and a good paying job. As I counted my blessings each morning, I still felt there was a whole lot missing in my life.

I realized that I had no idea what actually made Andrea happy. For so long I was doing what I was “supposed to do.” I was so caught up in what other people thought of me that I somehow lost sight of who I was and what I wanted in life. So I decided to be the captain of my own ship and step out on faith to build the seed that God had planting in my life. To help others take their entrepreneurial spirit and build a successful business. But let me tell you, it wasn’t an easy process and it took me 2 years to actually garner enough courage to leave my “perfect little job” that I had been with for 8 years to pursue my passions in life.

I believe that when you have a passion and a purpose and combine that with a winning platform you are able to accomplish great things.

After much consideration I refocused my efforts on building a successful network marketing business in 2009. I was introduced to the industry 10 years prior and moved my business to the internet about 6 months ago. Taking what I learned from my experiences in life and in my track and field career I have been able to build a massive brand as the Gold Medal Marketer by combining my winning mentality in Athletics with my entrepreneurial instincts. I bring an intense determination to the social media community and coach and mentor other solo-entrepreneurs and small business owners across the globe on the most effective strategies for Branding and Marketing using the Internet.

In my experience of being an entrepreneur and working with thousands of clients, I have created 10 Rules for Succeeding as an Entrepreneur:
