Shonda Rhimes was chosen as one of our GLM highlights. Shonda Rhimes has definitely made a name for herself, and is making a point to let everyone know she is here to stay. She is a director, screenwriter, and producer. Rhimes is most known for being the mastermind behind Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and How to Get Away with Murder. Her career started in 1998 with directing the short film Blossoms and Veils, after being unemployed and working odd jobs to make ends meet. She also wrote the 1999 HBO movie Introducing Dorothy Dandridge and Crossroads, a debut film for pop star Brittany Spears. Rhimes has shown herself as multifaceted and unstoppable. 2014 has been a great year for Rhimes, winning Directors Guild of American diversity award. She has also won a Golden Globe and been nominated for three Emmy awards. I am sure Shonda Rhimes has plenty in store in addition to taking over on Thursday nights. She is surely one to follow.
