Photographers of Color Return to PIR

The second Photographers of Color (POC) Workshop returns to Avondale, Arizona to learn about and photograph the NASCAR races at Phoenix International Raceway on March 13-15, 2015.  The Workshop was created by Hassan Kareem, CEO of Brotha Love Productions and is hosted by Linking Sports & Communities LLC (LSC) and PIR. It invites photographers from around the country to interview and photograph drivers, vendors, fans and NASCAR officials to convey the socio-economic benefits of motorsports, as well as appeal of Arizona tourism, to new markets.

This weekend 20 photographers will attend a special photographers orientation, get a tour of the track, attend a LSC community reception at PIR before the NASCAR Mexico Series at the Toyota 120 race, and take photographs of all the activities throughout the weekend. As part of this special weekend, LSC and PIR will also treat members of Arizona’s 100 Black Men and their families to a tour and viewing on Saturday, March 14. “We are excited to introduce the excitement of motorsports to new audiences,” says Scott Rovn, Director of Marketing for PIR.

Of special note this weekend is that LSC will have an RV donated by Lifestyle RVs in Mesa, Arizona, as its headquarters throughout the weekend, where there will be information and volunteers to discuss LSC’s mission to encourage student athletes to stay in school, lead healthy lifestyles and be financially responsible. Other sponsors and supporters of LSC and the POC include law firms like Ben Taylor Law and Schneider & Onofry, insurance company Wellengten Inc, and consultants Denise Meridith Consultants Inc.
