“Without continual growth and progress, such words as improvement, achievement, and success have no meaning.”

– Benjamin Franklin

Do you know that self-growth is the essence of life?

Simply because it means to become the best version of yourself; which increases your value. Growing through life means that you are ascending, climbing to the top of your own life and from a faith perspective. I’ll say this, be intentional about your self-growth. Never ask how, because the how is none of your business. God will always put you on a new and higher mountain to climb, since you reached the top of the current mountain you’ve been climbing.

Whenever I think about self growth, what comes to my mind is how plants grow as high as they possibly can. It sends its roots down deep in the ground, as far as it possibly can; because you simply water them and they grow. Most importantly, they grow to become what they are truly holding within them!

Have you ever heard of a plant growing to only half of its potential?

Jim Rohn said that humans are the only life form that will do less than what they possibly can.

I found that to be really true. It is so easy to spot many people who find excuses for not doing anything; people who believe in luck, comparison or being victims of circumstances. It is also easy to see people getting comfortable with the human cycle system; which is growing physically, going to school, getting good grades, going to university, graduating, getting a good or high-paying job, getting married and then repeating the same process of the same cycle with a new generation.

If you noticed that there are words in bold font in the previous paragraph; these words are verbs. Now, this tells us that people are ignorant by choice. Knowing that the power of choice is what differentiates us from other creatures; yet very few people choose to grow.

Since the element of choice is a power that we can use the way we want, why don’t we start by choosing to grow?

What a great time to start growing NOW! “In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.” That’s what Abraham Lincoln said; in other words, it’s not you growing physically, but growing spiritually to become what you were meant to be and live to produce what you hold within! Give your moments life by taking daily actions to grow and become an effective individual.

Self-growth is an inside thing. You choose, you connect, you create and you commit! Let me explain what I mean:

Choose to grow: one day after speaking at an event, one individual came up to me complementing my session; and he started asking me how did I become who I am today; and when I told him what I do on a daily basis, he started saying things like “…lucky you and I wish I can etc…” When he ran out of excuses within the conversation, he finally said “I don’t want to grow; I am happy to stay where I am.” I smiled and said, “Thank you for being honest my friend.”

Connect with yourself: you need to be truthful with yourself to identify the bad habits that need to replaced with new good ones; also, you need to understand that there will be disciplines and sacrifices. It is a way of self confrontation to come up with an agreement between you and yourself.

Create a plan: list down the outcome from the confrontation.

Commit to the plan: 21 days of commitment will make a habit; and in continuing 6 months, it will become a part of your lifestyle.

Looking at the example of the plane when its taking off; it drives on its wheels for some time and it goes from slow to fast; then it will detached from the ground to raise up and fly higher and higher. Don’t you think that the view from top is amazing?

This is exactly what happens when you choose to grow and start your self-growth plan; you will start seeing and observing things from a different perspective, with higher standards; and because you are ascending in your life, all the way to the top, challenges and obstacles will appear smaller and minimal to you.

As I always say to myself, “T.O.P, only 3 letters, T.O.P is a word that describes a place and T.O.P is where you were meant to be.”

My advice to you my friend, keep ASCENDING!
